WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Lithonia Lighting Nickel End Wrap Fluorescent Ceiling Light Fixtures

Units: About 50,000

Distributor: Lithonia Lighting, a division of Acuity Brands Lighting Inc., of Conyers, Ga.

Manufacturer: Suzhou Powerhouse Co. Ltd., of China

Hazard: A wire inside the light fixture could be loose, posing an electrical shock hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recall involves the Lithonia Lighting Nickel End Wrap fluorescent ceiling light fixtures model number “New 2 32 120 RE BN” and date code “N050807”. The light fixtures measure four feet long and consist of two brushed nickel end caps and a clear plastic cover for the fluorescent tubes. “Lithonia Lighting”, the model number, and the date code can be found on the shipping box or on a label located inside the fixture, next to the fluorescent tube. To read the label on the fixture, consumers should turn the power off at the home’s circuit breaker and remove the plastic cover of the light fixture. Light fixtures sold in a box marked with a round pink sticker are not included in this recall.

Sold exclusively at: Home Depot stores from June 2007 through August 2007 for about $40.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the light fixture immediately and return the product to Home Depot to receive a full refund or free replacement. Before removing the fixture, consumers should turn off the power at the home’s circuit breaker and consult the installation instructions provided with the fixture.
