Summary Statement
Exposure assessment monitoring of ironworker using an oxyacetylene torch to cut painted steel girder. Paint has been removed either side of cut line, paint removal may/may not be sufficient to properly protect worker. Potential fall issue, worker standing on single plank covering small span of unknown height. The worker is using 1/2 face air purifying respirator, leather jacket and gloves. Worker may need higher level of respiratory protection.
A fire extinguisher should be readily available. Positive means should be made to confine sparks and slag. A worker should be assigned as a fire watch during and for a sufficient time afterwards to ensure that there is no possibility of fire.
