Spray application of fire proofing. Workers respirator straps are not properly situated. Anyone using a tight fitting respirator must be clean shaven. Spray applicators (insulators )should wear a respirator as fire proofing material may contain silica, fiberglass or vermiculite contaminated with asbestos fibers. Workers should not dry mix materials. Spray applicators should attempt to reduce exposure by placing themselves down wind if possible. Some spray nozzles have been found to reduce dust and fiber levels. Check the MSDS to ensure you are using the correct level of respiratory protection.
