The Electronic Library of Construction Occupational Safety and Health (eLCOSH.org) was developed to provide accurate, user-friendly information about safety and health for construction workers, employers, researchers and others interested in construction safety and health from a wide range of sources worldwide.

CPWR — The Center for Construction Research and Training is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created by the Building and Construction Trades Department, AFL-CIO. Since the inception of research initiatives in 1990, CPWR has become an international leader in applied research, training, and service to the construction industry. CPWR also serves as the National Construction Center for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

CPWR’s mission is to advance safety and health in the construction industry by:

  • Conducting research on the quality of working conditions; the social, economic, and psychological factors influencing work organization; the impact of new technologies and industry changes on workers and working conditions; and analyzing corporate and government policies and consensus standards that affect the worksite;
  • Publicizing the results of such studies and making them available to stakeholders, interested citizens, and appropriate government agencies;
  • Encouraging the elimination or reduction of conditions constituting hazards to the safety or health of workers, and promoting safe and healthy working conditions for workers;
  • Providing training and technical services to apply research findings at the work site and directing research by defining and addressing issues of importance to workers.
